The district is governed by a five-member Warrenville Park District Board of Commissioners who are elected at large and serve four-year terms.
Our Mission: to create community
Our History
The Warrenville Park District dates back to 1964 when it was incorporated as the Round Grove Park District, which remained relatively dormant until 1979 when it was revitalized by residents. In the early 1980s, board elections were held and the first taxes were levied.
By the late 1980s, the first employee was hired and in 1990, the name was changed to Warrenville Park District and a referendum was passed which expanded the boundaries of the district and incorporated most of the city of Warrenville. Summerlakes Park was the first property owned by the district. It was received as a donation, and then developed through the assistance of a state grant.
The Warrenville Park District began very small and has strived to continue to grow and prosper with a vision to be the best-in-class provider of parks and recreation opportunities in for the Warrenville community.
